America250
Deerfield Community Organizations Unite to Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary
The Village of Deerfield and a coalition of community partners have officially committed to participating in Illinois America250, joining communities across the state and nation in commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States on July 4, 2026.
Participating organizations include the Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District, Deerfield Park District, Deerfield School District 109, Township High School District 113, Deerfield Public Library, Deerfield Rotary Club, Deerfield Optimist Club, Deerfield Area Historical Society, Deerfield Lions Club and the Village of Deerfield.
Together, these organizations are working to elevate local voices, celebrate community heritage and create meaningful opportunities for residents to connect with Deerfield’s past, present and future.
America250 represents more than a historical milestone — it is a unifying national effort. Communities across all 50 states are coming together to reflect on our shared history, recognize the people who embody the American spirit today and imagine how we will shape the future over the next 250 years. The commemoration honors veterans, families, educators, innovators, students, volunteers and civic leaders, reinforcing that America’s story is about people.
By celebrating together, Deerfield and its partners reaffirm their shared commitment to civic engagement, freedom, democracy and unity.
Planned initiatives include community-wide celebrations, educational programming, a time capsule, historical exhibits, arts and cultural events, volunteer and service opportunities and storytelling projects that highlight Deerfield’s unique role in the broader American story.
Residents are encouraged to follow participating organizations’ communication channels for upcoming events and opportunities. Local businesses, community groups and residents interested in partnerships are invited to get involved.
Honor a Hero: Celebrate a Legacy
Call for Veterans Banners America 250 Initiative
Update: Due to an overwhelming response, the program is currently sold out and we are unable to accept additional requests at this time.
We understand how meaningful this recognition is to families and our community. The committee is actively exploring alternative ways to honor our veterans. If and when an option becomes available, we will share an update on our website.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work to recognize and celebrate those who have served.
The Village of Deerfield is inviting families and organizations to help us honor the veterans who have served our nation — whether a loved one, a friend or a local hero.
As part of the America 250 Project, celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States, Deerfield will proudly display veteran banners throughout the downtown area.
Each banner will feature:
- Veteran’s photo
- Branch of service
- Years of service
This is a meaningful way to recognize service, sacrifice and the stories that helped shape our community and our country. The banners will be displayed in downtown Deerfield in late May until early July.
Sponsors need to upload a clear headshot of their veteran. There is a cost share of $25 per banner that can be paid at Village Hall, 850 Waukegan Road.
