Green Energy Partnership Program
Starting July 15, 2025, Deerfield businesses can now access 100 percent renewable electricity, often at the same or lower price than traditional grid energy, through the new Green Energy Partnership Program.
This program, developed in collaboration with energy advisor ICCAN, connects local businesses with top-rated energy suppliers to provide competitive green energy offers with no transaction or commission fees. Deerfield is the first community in Illinois to offer a program of this kind.
How It Works:
- Local businesses access the program portal at www.greenenergypartnership.com and upload a recent ComEd bill.
- ICCAN requests pricing for 100% renewable energy supply from retail electricity suppliers that are all highly rated by the Illinois Commerce Commission (link).
- ICCAN returns the pricing offers for renewable energy supply with no added fees or commissions to the local business.
- The local business can then select the pricing offer that is best suited for their business and execute a supply contract directly with their preferred supplier.
Switching to renewable energy through this program supports Deerfield’s Climate Action Report goals, including a 45 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. If all commercial users participate, the Village could cut more than 85,000 metric tons of CO₂ annually, equal to removing over 31,000 cars from the road.
“Deerfield is committed to taking innovative steps to help residents and local businesses take action to reduce their carbon footprint and support our local climate goals. With the gradual transition to renewable energy, the Green Energy Partnership Program will provide the knowledge, resources and access that will empower our local businesses to move into our sustainable future and save money at the same time” - Mayor Daniel C. Shapiro
“From environmental and economic perspectives, this program is a major achievement for the Village. As a growing community, we have a responsibility to help all energy users access the benefits that come from using more renewable energy. By launching the Green Energy Partnership Program, we’re moving closer to our goal of getting all electricity consumed in Deerfield to be sourced from renewable generation by 2030, which will help ensure a more sustainable future for everyone.” - Mary Oppenheim, Village Trustee and Chairperson of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Working Group
“A greener Deerfield requires collaborations like the Green Energy Partnership Program and a shared vision. We are proud to collaborate with the Village, the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Working Group and ICCAN to help local businesses adopt renewable energy options, and we look forward to continuing to work together to support a greener community.” - Chasity Savage, Executive Director of the Deerfield-Bannockburn-Riverwoods Chamber of Commerce
