Deerfield Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy
Engaging and Educating the Community
The Citizen’s Police Academy is an eight-week program designed to enhance communication between the police department and the community. Participants are instructed in a variety of law enforcement topics by officers who specialize in those areas. In addition, participants have the option of riding with an officer on patrol and participating in hands on activities.
Spring 2026 Session
The Spring session will start February 18 and run through April 22 (no class March 25). Classes will be held Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at the Police Department. The session will be limited to ten participants to help facilitate good discussions.
The Academy is FREE to attend!
Who Can Attend
The Citizen’s Police Academy is open to anyone who:
- Is 18 years of age or older
- Lives or works in Deerfield
A background check is completed on all applicants. The Deerfield Police Department reserves the right to deny enrollment for any reason.
