Lead Service Line Replacement Program (LSLR)

The Village Board has approved a voluntary Lead Service Line Replacement Program to help homeowners facilitate the replacement of their lead water service lines and reduce potential lead exposure.

This program provides financial assistance for eligible properties, with funding available on a first-come, first-served basis. Because funding and spots for this program are limited, residents are encouraged to review all program requirements and specifications before the online application opens at 9:00 AM on March 9.

What the Program Covers

The program is designed specifically to assist with the voluntary replacement of lead water service lines serving residential properties. It does not cover replacements required for repairs, remodeling, new construction or other mandated improvements.

Under Village ordinance:

  • The Village maintains the portion of the water service line from the water main to the parkway / sidewalk.
  • The homeowner is responsible for the portion running from the parkway / sidewalk area into the home.

As part of the replacement process, older outside meter pits (if present) will be removed and meters will be relocated inside the home.
