This week, the contractor’s underground crew advanced the installation of the new storm sewer and water main in the unpaved roadway segment between Chestnut Street and Wayne Avenue. This marks the final phase of all underground work, which is expected to continue into next week.
To efficiently and safely complete the underground utility installation, the Village has implemented a daily closure of the Chestnut Street and Hazel Avenue intersection. The closure is in effect beginning today, 11/14, from 8:30am to 3pm on weekdays and from 7am to 4pm on Saturday. The intersection will remain open on Sunday and will reopen at the end of each workday. The closure is expected to be lifted on Wednesday, 11/19. Message boards are in place to help communicate this closure and to provide updated information.
Simultaneously, pavement excavation is ongoing in the remaining work zone to prepare for subbase improvements and the installation of concrete curb, sidewalk, and driveway elements. These surface improvement activities are scheduled to begin early next week as excavation progresses further down the road.
