Unscheduled Bus Stop Regulations

At its January 16, 2024, meeting, the Deerfield Village Board approved an ordinance regulating one-way, unscheduled commercial bus and transportation services, that drop off of passengers in the Village without pre-arranged provisions such as food, shelter or other resources.

The ordinance states that such arrivals could jeopardize the health and safety of the passengers, constitute inhumane conditions, create dangerous conditions for the individuals being dropped and otherwise create a public safety concern. It will require intercity bus operators to submit an application to the Village Manager, or designee, and provide the Village with five business days advance notice. It also establishes permitted times and locations for passengers to disembark.

The application is available on the Village's website.
