On May 7, 2018, the Village Board passed an ordinance allowing the regulation and licensing of massage establishments in the Village of Deerfield.
The purpose of the ordinance is to regulate and license for the protection of the public health, morals and welfare of the residents of the Village of Deerfield including, but not limited to, the prevention of such establishments from being used for the purposes of prostitution and the spread of disease through unsanitary practices and facilities.
The ordinance affects any business in the Village of Deerfield with a licensed massage therapist offering massage services.

A massage establishment is the premises where any person, business, firm, partnership, association, corporation or limited liability company engages in or carries on or permits to be engaged in or carried on any massage services.
You can fill out a massage establishment license form at www.deerfield.il.us or in person at Village Hall (850 Waukegan Road). You may return the form and the $100 non-refundable application fee (cash or check) to Andrew Lichterman, Assistant Village Manager, in person at Village Hall or by mail.
In addition to the completed application, you must submit the $100 non-refundable application fee; the $35 annual business license fee; a complete set of fingerprints (contact the Deerfield Police Department at 847.945.8636); and a copy of your lease for leased premises only.
There is a $100 non-refundable fee for the application and a $35 annual fee for the license. Your license must be renewed each year by December 31. The fee may be paid by cash or check. There is also an additional fee associated with supplying a complete set of fingerprints – please contact the Deerfield Police Department at 847.945.8636 to arrange.
The Chief of Police, any duly authorized police officer or a building and code enforcement officer of the Village shall have the right to enter the premises for the purpose of inspecting the premises. Books and records shall be available at all times for inspection by the Chief of Police or his authorized representative.
Any person found guilty of violating the ordinance will face a daily fine of $250-$1,000. Licensed massage therapists may also have their license revoked.
