Deerfield residents Aaron and Jess Lorber created a neighborhood Go Fund Me page to raise money for area restaurants. The intent was to provide financial assistance to local restaurants and also provide meals to first responders. After touching base with the Lorber family, both the Police Department and Fire District, with support from the Lorber Family, decided that the $3,500 in gift cards should be donated to the West Deerfield Township to help support their food pantry.
“Jess and I merely set up the page and bought gift cards from local restaurants,” Aaron Lorber said. “Lots of Deerfield residents contributed and it was really a community effort with a focus on support for local small business.”
Police and Fire personnel presented West Deerfield Township Supervisor Alyson Feiger the gift cards at the Deerfield Fire Station.
“We are so proud and fortunate to serve the residents of this community,” said Fire Chief Ian Kazian. “The Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Department and Deerfield Police Department always strive to make the mark, but we also know that the community we serve is right there alongside of us!”
Donations can be made on-line to the West Deerfield Township Food Pantry here.
