Resident Beth Colman is a trainer at the Sachs Recreation Center and started hosting free 10-minute exercise routines on Facebook.
“In response to the shelter in place order, I noticed friends and members that I know still needed to feel connected. I knew people were doing Zoom happy hours, and work meetings. I wanted to do something a little different and on a healthier side,” Colman said.
The result is “10 @ 10,” a regular Facebook Live event hosted by Coleman on her Facebook page under her maiden name of Groobman. It’s 10 minutes at 10 a.m. She also posts easy to acquire, healthy snack ideas.
“I explain to everyone it’s a way to take a break from work, or the kids, or organizing shelves and motivate people to just move a little with my guidance,” Coleman said. “Some people don’t have extra funds to pay for classes and trainers, so this is my way of contributing to staying at home.”
The project is also a family affair with her daughter joining in on the exercises and her younger son serving as cameraman.
