This week, the paving contractor completed the first layer of asphalt between Wayne Avenue and Forest Avenue. In the segment between Forest Avenue and Chestnut Street, the contractor finished installing the concrete curb and preparing the pavement, which will allow the first layer of asphalt in that area to be paved on Friday. They also plan to install temporary asphalt sidewalks and perform general site cleanup in the remaining locations on Friday, ahead of the forecasted snowfall this weekend.
Over the next couple of weeks, as weather permits, the contractor will continue preparing the site for winter shutdown by ensuring it is safe for pedestrians, motorists, and winter snow operations. While substantial progress has been made over the past month, several items will be deferred until next spring. These include paving the final layer of asphalt between Wayne Avenue and Chestnut Street, installing sod and trees within the parkways, completing pavement striping, and conducting final site cleanup.
