The Village was notified today that the asphalt contractor will complete the final layer of paving on Hazel Avenue, between Wayne Avenue and Chestnut Street, on Thursday, May 7. Traffic will be allowed on the new surface by the end of the business day.
This work will involve heavy truck traffic and may cause delays along Hazel Avenue and at nearby intersections. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.
Residents within the paving area will receive additional information via a hand-delivered notice this afternoon.

Last week, the sign subcontractor installed street name signs throughout the project area. As many residents have noticed, these signs are smaller than the previous ones and do not meet the Village’s standard size. The Village is working with the contractor to correct this issue and ensure the proper signs are installed. The contractor also continued and nearly completed the placement of topsoil in the parkways. In addition, preparation began for final paving on the roadway between Wayne Avenue and Chestnut Street.
Next week, the landscaping contractor is expected to begin sod installation and/or parkway tree plantings. The paving contractor is also scheduled to return to install the final surface layer between Wayne Avenue and Chestnut Street. Once the schedule is confirmed, additional notifications will be provided. All remaining work is scheduled to be completed by the end of May.

Over the last few weeks, the contractor has continued parkway restoration and completed the remaining sidewalk pours at Forest Avenue and Chestnut Street. In addition, they began adjusting utility structures between Wayne Avenue and Chestnut Street in preparation for final paving.
Weather permitting, topsoil placement is expected to be finished next week. Following that, the contractor will proceed with sod installation and planting parkway trees. The remaining work, including final paving, sign installation, curb repairs, and pavement striping, is scheduled for completion by Memorial Day.
