2018 Street Rehab Project

This week (Oct 2 – 6), the contractor finished the remaining concrete, asphalt, and parkway restoration work, which allowed Waukegan Road to be reopened to four lanes Friday afternoon. While there are still items that need to be completed including detection loops, pavement striping, and miscellaneous cleanup, these items will be completed utilizing daytime lane closures between 9am – 3pm.

REMINDER: This morning (Wednesday the 4^th) starting at 9am, the contractor will begin pavement patching through the North Avenue intersection. Due to the intersection layout and work required, the North Avenue intersection will be closed to westbound traffic on Wednesday and Thursday from 9am – 3pm to allow the contractor enough room to complete the work. If the contractor is delayed due to weather, additional communication will be distributed. 

Eastbound traffic (vehicles turning onto North Avenue from Waukegan Road) will still be allowed and the contractor will use flaggers to help these vehicles access North Avenue. During this time, westbound vehicles are encouraged to utilize Warwick Road or Westgate Road to access Waukegan Road. Message boards along North Ave at Waukegan and Wincanton were installed Monday communicating the North Avenue closure.

This week (Sept 11 – Sept 15), the contractor completed the pavement patching within the center lanes of Waukegan Road and began the curb and sidewalk repairs in the outside lanes. The contractor will continue working in the outside lanes over the next few weeks to complete the project. Also this week, the contractor began pavement repairs on Warwick Road from Waukegan Road to Warwick Court. This work will require Warwick Road to be reduced to one lane beginning Monday to allow the contractor enough room to safely complete the repairs. During this time, east bound traffic will be permitted and west bound traffic will be required to use an alternate route to reach Waukegan Road. District 109, LRS and the impacted residents will all be notified prior to the implementation of one-way traffic. See below map.
