Solar 101
Installing solar panels on your roof enables your home to harness the sun's free energy, reducing dependence on the electrical grid and leading to substantial savings on your monthly bill. Although you remain connected to the grid and need an electricity plan, the costs with your provider are significantly decreased.
During sunlight hours, the panels generate electricity, but they rely on the grid during periods without sunlight. Excess electricity produced on sunny days is automatically sent back to the grid. To maximize this benefit, consider selecting an electricity plan that compensates you for the energy you contribute. These plans are often referred to as 'solar buy-back plans' or net metering plans. The most favorable solar buy-back plans are those that repurchase your kWh at the same price you purchased it.
