Semi-Annual Biosolids Removal

The Village's Water Reclamation Facility is scheduled to conduct its semi-annual biosolids removal operations next week starting Tuesday, May 16. This necessary work is weather dependent and could change depending on the forecast. Our biosolids are used as a beneficial reuse to provide fertilizer to agricultural fields in Lake and McHenry counties. There will be additional truck traffic from the facility and the potential for some additional odor. As always, we look forward to completing this task in an efficient manner and to limit our impact on the community.

Waukegan Road Water Main Replacement

Waukegan Road Water Main Replacement Update

This past week, the contractor continued the installation of fire hydrants, side street connections and connected buildings to the new water main south of Hazel Avenue. Additionally, the contractor completed the main line installation in the downtown area while working overnight. Water testing requirements for the section between Hazel Avenue and Fair Oaks Avenue should be completed by this weekend.

Next week, May 15–19, the contractor anticipates completing the downtown installation of fire hydrants and building connections. Once completed, this section of main will have its water tested in preparation for building service connections. During the daytime hours beginning Tuesday, the contractor will begin transferring residential and building services over to the new main, starting near Fair Oaks Avenue. This work will result in daily traffic lane shifts for the motoring public as well as minimal water disruptions for each property. Advance notification will be distributed to all properties that will be impacted during the water service transfer to the new main.

This $4M project will result in the full replacement of the existing and aged water main from Deerfield Road to North Avenue.

Updates on the project will be shared via the Village website and interested parties can sign up to receive e-mail and/or text message updates on the project. You can also watch a video of a recent public open house about the project.

The Village appreciates your cooperation during this important improvement. For more information, please contact the engineering department at 847.317.2490.
