Downtown Lighting Ceremony - Wednesday, November 27

Downtown Lighting Ceremony

Kick-off the holiday season at the Village’s Downtown Lighting Ceremony on Wednesday, November 27, from 4 to 5 p.m. at Deerfield Village Centre Plaza between Starbucks and Bobby’s. Join Mayor Rosenthal and local businesses for free treats and entertainment as downtown Deerfield is lit up with holiday lights.

Complimentary holiday beverages and snacks will be provided by Coldwell Banker, PetPeople, Seta Salon and Starbucks while attendees are entertained by live holiday music from the Deerfield Community Concert Band.

Mayor Rosenthal will plug in the lights at 5 p.m., but arrive early with your family and
friends for the festivities. For more information, contact Kylie Cerk, Communications Specialist, at 847.719.7404 or by email.

Non-Emergency Offices Closed for Thanksgiving - Thursday, November 28 & Friday, November 29

Thanksgiving

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, non-emergency Village offices will be closed on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29.

Waste Management garbage, recycling and yard waste collection will proceed as usual without delay.

We'd also like to remind everyone to stay safe this Thanksgiving with a few tips:

  • Never allow yourself, a friend or a family member to drive drunk or "buzzed."
  • Always wear a seat belt and be extra cautious driving at night.
  • Avoid the use of turkey fryers.
  • Stay in the kitchen when you are cooking on the stovetop so you can keep an eye on the food.
  • Keep children away from knives, open flames and hot food and liquids.
The Village of Deerfield wishes you a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Final Dates of Fall Leaf Collection Program

Leaf Collection

Due to recent snow and freezing temperatures, the fall leaf collection program has been extended through Wednesday, November 27.

There is no pickup schedule for the final three days of collection next week, and Public Works will only make one pass per house. To ensure your leaves are collected, all piles must be at the curb no later than 6 a.m. on Monday, regardless of your location in Deerfield.

If you have leaves remaining after the end of the program, you may place them in yard waste bags for collection by Waste Management on your garbage pickup day. Yard waste must be affixed with a sticker - get more information here.
