Park Restoration Work Day - Saturday, October 12

Park Restoration

Members of the Village’s Sustainability Commission and Park District invite you to join us as we work together to further beautify and restore a local amenity! This hands-on activity is taking place at Briarwood Nature Area at 10 a.m. - parking is available at 297 River Road.

The Park Restoration Work Day is a community-wide event and will teach participants about planting trees and removing invasive species. Bring your work gloves, work boots and shovels/gardening tools.

For more information, contact Assistant Village Manager, Andrew Lichterman, at alichterman@deerfield.il.us or 847.719.7403.

Leaf Collection Program Starting Monday, October 21

Leaf Collection

The Village’s annual leaf collection program provides
residents with an alternate way to dispose of their leaves. Residents who do not mulch or bag their leaves may rake
them to the curb or carriage walk line the night before their scheduled pickup.

Beginning the week of October 21 and continuing through November 15, Public Works Department crews will make one pass by each house in the Village every week during the four-week program. View the map below for the leaf collection schedule.

See the following guidelines and reminders for leaf pickup:

  • Rake leaves into piles no greater than 5’ in width.
  • Do not rake leaves into the streets, sidewalks or carriage walks.
  • Do not put out leaves more than one day prior to your scheduled pickup day.
  • Do not park on the street the day of your pickup.
  • Do not rake grass clippings, sticks, rocks, branches or mud to the curb with your leaves.
  • Try to put leaves out each week.
  • Inclement weather may delay pickups, but crews will make at least four trips through each neighborhood.
  • Direct landscapers to abide by the Village’s guidelines for leaf collection by not relocating leaves into the street. This causes clogged storm drains and flooded streets.
