Cold weather does not deter criminals! In the first 5 weeks of 2019, there were 5 stolen vehicles reported in Deerfield.

In 2018, the highest number of index crimes involved burglary to motor vehicles. In most cases these crimes are committed in unlocked vehicles. Car burglaries are crimes of opportunity and failing to lock your vehicle makes it a target for thieves. 

Remember to always follow these steps when exiting your vehicle:

1. Close all windows
2. Remove valuables
3. Remove keys, key fobs and garage door openers
4. LOCK YOUR DOORS
5. Close your garage door – even if you’re home

The Deerfield Police Department will once again host a Citizen's Police Academy to promote and enhance citizen understanding and awareness of our role within the community.

The Spring 2019 session will be held Thursday evenings from 7 p.m.-9:30 p.m. from March 14 through May 23 (no class on March 28). Participants will be instructed in a variety of law enforcement topics by officers who specialize in those areas.

Rally with the Red and Blue! Join the Deerfield Police Department and Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District for a winter blood drive on Friday, February 15 from noon-6 p.m. at Deerfield Village Hall (850 Waukegan Road).
