Have a Happy and Safe 4th of July!

4th of July

As a reminder, all non-emergency Village offices will be closed on Wednesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Regular office hours will resume the following Thursday.

Waste Management Collection Delay

Stay Cool in Hot Weather

Stay cool

Residents can expect a very hot weekend and Fourth of July holiday with heat indices approaching 115 degrees.

Remember to wear lightweight, light-colored clothing, drink plenty of water, minimize sun exposure and never leave children or pets in vehicles.

It is also important to check on neighbors, friends and family in dangerously hot weather, especially the elderly. If you feel that you, a family member or friend has heat stroke, call 9-1-1.

In the event that you are unable to access air conditioning, including a ComEd power outage, the Deerfield Police Department, 850 Waukegan Road, is a designated cooling center. They can be reached 24 hours a day at 847.945.8636.

For more information on heat safety, visit the National Weather Service's website.

Vehicles Stickers Must be Displayed by July 1

Vehicle Sticker

The Village of Deerfield would like to remind residents that vehicle stickers must be displayed on all registered vehicles by July 1.

If purchased by June 30, stickers for passenger vehicles cost $30. After June 30, a 50 percent late penalty is assessed.

Residents may purchase vehicle stickers in person at Village Hall, online at the Village's website (convenience
fee applies) or by returning the renewal application by mail or by using the payment drop box located in the median just south of Village Hall on Jewett Park Drive.

For more information, please contact the Finance Department at 847.945.5000.

Leave Fireworks to the Professionals

With the warm weather and family events, the Fourth of July should be a fun time with great memories, but please remember that the use of fireworks in Deerfield is significantly restricted by Village ordinance.

The best way to protect your family is to not use any fireworks at home; instead, attend public fireworks displays and leave the lighting to the professionals. Each July 4th, thousands of people nationwide, most often children and teens, are injured while using consumer fireworks.

Moreover, there are many people, including our veterans, that are alarmed by unexpected fireworks – especially the ones they don’t know are coming. They prepare themselves for our Independence Day celebrations, but random fireworks can trigger a PTSD reaction.

Stay safe this year and join us at our Deerfield Family Days fireworks on July 3 at Brickyards Park.
