Daytime Lane Closures Next Week, Expect Delays
Construction Operations at the intersection of Waukegan Road (Route 43) and Deerfield Road will present delays to motorists next week.
Waukegan Road (Route 43) and Deerfield Road
Monday: Daytime lane closures will be in place 9:30 a.m. through 2 p.m., as the contractor removes the existing pavement surface through the intersection.
Tuesday & Wednesday: Daytime lane closures will be in place as the contractor installs traffic signal detector loops for the new traffic signals.
Friday: Daytime lane closures will be in place 5:30 a.m. through 10 a.m., as the contractor places the new asphalt surface through the intersection. Upon completion of paving in this intersection, the contractor will then move to Highland Park to continue paving operations on the northern portion of Deerfield Road, near Ridge Road.
Additionally, some remaining concrete work will take place next week in downtown Deerfield and in various locations throughout the project limits. This work will also result in daytime lane closures and delays to motorists.
The contractor continues to work on replacing the brick paver sidewalk in downtown Deerfield and completing the remaining concrete work (project wide). In the next 2-3 weeks, the contractor will begin diamond grinding on the new concrete pavement in the Village of Deerfield, which will result in a smoother ride. Activation of the new traffic signals and over-height detection system at the Metra viaduct in the Village of Deerfield is planned for the last week in May.
The project is scheduled for final completion by the end of June.
