LRS Collection Day Change

Beginning with the next solid waste contract term in April, many Deerfield residents should expect a change to their weekly pickup day. Homes currently collected on Mondays will move to Wednesdays under the renewal of the Village’s solid waste collection agreement with Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS). Tuesday collection will remain unchanged.

The proposed renewal will shift Deerfield to a two-day residential collection schedule, with service occurring on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only starting the week of April 6.

Find Your Polling Place

To find your Election Day polling place in Lake or Cook County, start by confirming you are registered at your current address, then use your county election authority’s polling place lookup tool to search by name and address. The results will show your assigned Election Day location, hours and any precinct-specific details. Because polling places can change between elections, residents should check their assignment close to Election Day and follow their county’s updates for the most accurate information.

Residential Lead Water Service Line Replacement Program

As part of the Illinois Lead Service Line Replacement and Notification Act passed in 2021, all municipalities must begin to facilitate the replacement of known lead service lines beginning in 2027. Taking a proactive approach to this requirement, the Village Board recently approved a Residential Lead Service Line Replacement Program, a voluntary cost sharing initiative designed to assist homeowners with replacing lead water service lines and reducing potential exposure to lead in drinking water. The program provides financial assistance to eligible properties, with funding available on a first-come, first-served basis. Because funding for this program is limited, residents are encouraged to review all program requirements and specifications and submit and application. The program does not cover replacements that are required for repairs, remodeling, new construction or other mandated improvements. Information about the program, along with a lookup tool that allows residents to check their property’s water line material by address, is available on the Village website.
