Winter Weather Reminders

A prolonged period of accumulating fluffy snow is expected late Saturday into Sunday. Accumulating snow will likely lead to hazardous travel conditions for parts of the area during that time. Frigid conditions will continue into early next week.

Check the 4 Ps — people, pets, power and pipes.

People: Please check in on older adults, neighbors with disabilities, and anyone who may need a hand. If you see someone in immediate danger, call 911.

Pets: Bring animals indoors and limit time outside. Dry paws and provide fresh water.

Power: If your power goes out, call 1-800-EDISON1, go to ComEd.com, or use the ComEd Mobile App to report your outages. The Police Department and Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District serve as 24-hour warming shelters should you need it.

Pipes: Keep your thermostat at 55°F or higher, open sink cabinets to let warm air reach pipes, and let faucets along exterior walls drip slowly. Know where your main water shutoff is in case a pipe bursts.

New Resident Guide Now Available

The Village has developed a New Resident Resource Guide that will be sent to residents when they set up a new utility account with the Village. The guide includes important phone numbers, information about Village services and special events, and an overview of other local government agencies that provide services within the Village. It’s great for residents who recently moved to Deerfield as well as longtime residents who can use it as a helpful guide on everything the Village offers. Hard copies are available at Village Hall or find it online.
