SWALCO Reuse-O-Rama This Sunday

The Village is cohosting a Reuse-O-Rama this Sunday, August 24, from noon–3 p.m. at North Shore Unitarian Church (2100 Half Day Road).

Clean out your closets and cupboards — bring shoes, clothes, bed & table linens, books and fire extinguishers for collection. Plus, take advantage of free paper shredding on-site (until the truck is full).

This event is hosted in partnership with the Village of Bannockburn and the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County. Let’s give new life to old items and keep waste out of landfills!

50/50 Tree Program

Time is running out to apply for the 50/50 Tree Program.

The Village will pay half the cost to plant a tree in the parkway.  Your tree will be balled in burlap, guaranteed for one year, and planted by the Public Works Department. Trees will be planted in the parkway and cannot be planted on private property. Tree plantings will take place in the fall. Watch your tree next summer and, if you notice any problems, call Public Works to have the tree examined before the guarantee expires.

The trees offered in the program are 2.5 inches in diameter. Applications due by August 29. This is a first come, first served program with a limited amount of each tree.  The cost is $225. Apply today.
