A Message from Mayor Shapiro
As we watch the heartbreaking images of the fires raging across Los Angeles, I know that many of us are feeling a sense of loss and uncertainty for the destroyed communities so far away. We think of those who have died and who are in harm’s way as the winds of uncertainty blow through the streets of Los Angeles and the flames of destruction continue to destroy anything in their path. The sight of homes reduced to ash, displaced families and of lives upended are devastating.
The people of Los Angeles are facing a monumental challenge. First responders have put their lives on the line to fight the flames, and volunteers have traveled from across the country to lend their hands in the rebuilding effort. So, although we are over two thousand miles away, let’s help those who are in need. I hope that with help from around the world the sense of helplessness will soon turn to strength and a renewed spirit.
The rebuilding of Los Angeles and the restoration of what has been lost will take time, resources and dedication. But it will happen, they will rebuild it. And, in the process, they will show the world what true resilience looks like. You can make a contribution and help LA by clinking on the below links.
