Reduce Your Speed for Safer Travel

This week, the Deerfield Police Department announced a partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois State Police and more than 200 local law enforcement agencies to step up enforcement across the state in an effort to reduce speeding. Throughout the month of July, motorists can expect increased patrols looking for speeding, as well as other traffic violations.

"Speeding causes unnecessary danger on our roads," said Commander Oliver Cachola. "Speeding greatly reduces a driver's ability to steer safely around another vehicle, a hazardous object or an unexpected curve. Speeding drivers put themselves, their passengers and other motorists at tremendous risk."

"Offenders will be stopped and ticketed - especially along Waukegan Road, Deerfield Road and Lake Cook Road, where most of our speed-related crashes occur," said Commander Cachola. "Our goal is to save lives."

The speed enforcement effort is made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by IDOT.

Community Roll Call

Police Community Roll Call July 24 at Jaycee Park

Join the Police Department for a Community Roll Call on July 24 at 7 p.m. in Jaycee Park.

What is the purpose of Community Roll Call?

For the residents, Community Roll Call is a great opportunity to learn important crime prevention information and safety tips while meeting the patrol officers who serve their community. For the Department, it is a way to identify concerns among the community and potential problems that have bearing on law enforcement.

The Police Department tries to feature a variety of law enforcement topics so each Community Roll Call is a little different. Even if you've been to one in the past, we hope you can make it July 24!
