Mayor Shapiro Appoints Jennifer Goldstone to Fill Trustee Vacancy

On Monday night, the Deerfield Village Board of Trustees unanimously accepted Mayor Daniel C. Shapiro’s appointment of Jennifer Goldstone to the position of Trustee. Goldstone was sworn into office following the Board’s approval, filling the vacancy left by former Trustee William “Bill” Seiden’s recent death.

Goldstone has served on the Plan Commission since 2017. Goldstone is a real estate attorney and managing member of the firm Horwitch Goldstone & Shaw and has experience in all facets of real estate transactions. She has lived in Deerfield with her husband Bruce for more than 20 years, and has two children away in college.

“I am honored to have been appointed by Mayor Shapiro to the Board of Trustees and look forward to continuing my service to the Village,” Goldstone said.

Mayor Shapiro said Goldstone’s years of experience on the Plan Commission will be an asset to her in this new role.

“I am pleased to appoint Jennifer to Village Trustee,” Shapiro said. “I have no doubt that Jennifer will bring her insight and experiences to the Board to contribute in a very positive way. We are excited to have her join the Board.”

9PM Routine

Follow the 9PM Routine

The 9PM Routine is designed to help you prevent burglaries and thefts from your home, cars or personal property. Too often these are crimes of opportunity perpetrated by criminals looking for an easy target. An unlocked car with valuables easily visible is an irresistible temptation for some thieves. Similarly, a residence with poor exterior lighting or an open garage door might entice a burglar to take a closer look at your property.

Every night at 9 p.m., we encourage the community to:

  • BRING IN valuables from your car, yard, and patio;
  • LOCK UP your car, house, windows, garage, gates and shed;
  • TURN ON exterior lights and alarm systems.

This campaign has proved successful throughout the country and we look forward to implementing it in the Village of Deerfield. Please partner with us, your neighbors and our community to help deter crimes of opportunity with this proven and effective program. Stick to it every night, just like brushing your teeth!
