Village Earns Gold Designation from SolSmart

The Village of Deerfield was awarded a Gold Designation from the U.S. Department of Energy's SolSmart program this week. The Village received the designation in recognition of meeting various criteria such as offering 50% discount on solar permitting fees, establishing a dedicated solar landing page and providing educational resources on solar incentives and financing options, among others.

The Gold Designation acknowledges the Village’s commitment to advancing solar initiatives and empowering residents to embrace sustainable energy practices. Learn more about going solar on the Village’s website.

Road Construction Ahead

2024 Street Rehabilitation Program Underway

The 2024 Street Rehabilitation Project is now underway and includes the reconstruction or rehabilitation of multiple Village streets. This $4 million project will include work along Country Lane, Gordon Terrace, Burr Oak Court, Rosewood Avenue, Mallard Lane, Orchard Street, Millstone Road, Shag Bark Lane, Fox Hunt Trail and Smoke Tree Road. 

Public Works hosted an open house to review the project details with residents yesterday. The meeting video is available to view online. Residents are encouraged to sign up for updates on the project-specific blog.

DHS Presents Arts Alive!

Arts Alive!, the new arts festival launching at Deerfield High School, will culminate the week-long celebration with a Professional Art Expo. This free, family friendly event is open to the public on Saturday, April 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  

During the week of April 15 to 19, professional artists from multiple diverse disciplines will present workshops, masterclasses, and performances for the students at Deerfield High School with a final live performance assembly for the entire school.

On April 20, the entire community is invited to an “Art Expo” Open House where 30 professional artists will show their work, demonstrate their techniques, and allow the public to get hands-on with projects.

Artistic disciplines represented at the Expo will include: Digital Caricatures, Weaving, Puppetry, Silk Painting, Henna, Paper Quilling, Masking Tape Sculpture, Floral Painting, Diary Boxes, Glass Blowing, Printmaking, Mosaics, Ceramics, Encaustic Painting, Collage, Silversmith, Origami, Mural, Mixed Media and more!

In addition, pop up performances will include a puppet show, drum circles, an interactive dance performance, wandering giant puppets, as well as a very special vocal performance by DHS students. AP DHS Student Artists will also have a chance to show their work as well.

Now Hiring Full Time Senior Accountant 

The Village’s Finance Department is recruiting a full-time Senior Accountant. This position is responsible for maintaining accounts payable, general and subsidiary ledgers, preparing balance sheets, financial statements, reconciling bank statements, tracking investments and coordinating month end closing procedures. The accountant is also heavily involved in the annual audit process. Interested parties can visit the Village website where they can find a complete job description and application. The position will remain open until filled with a start date and the end of June or early July.
