Fall Leaf Collection

With leaves starting to fall, the Public Works Department reminds residents not to rake leaves into the streets, sidewalks and carriage walks. Please refrain from putting out any leaves until the leaf collection program starts on October 30. Any leaves that you wish to have picked up before the leaf collection program starts can be placed in your organics container at no additional cost.

Below are the guidelines and reminders for leaf pickup:

  • Rake leaves into piles no greater than five feet in width
  • Do not rake leaves into the streets, sidewalks or carriage walks
  • Do not put out leaves more than one day prior to pickup
  • Do not rake grass clippings, sticks, rocks, branches or mud to the curb with your leaves
  • Do not park on the street the day of your pickup
  • Try to put leaves out each week
  • Inclement weather may delay pickups, but crews will make at least five trips through each neighborhood
  • Direct landscapers to abide by the Village’s guidelines for leaf collection

Halloween Candy Wrapper Recycling at Village Hall

The Village has partnered with Rubicon’s Trash or Treasure program to provide a recycling option for Halloween candy wrappers.

The candy wrappers collected through Trash or Treasure are mailed to a recycling processor. The recycling processor sorts and cleans the candy wrappers before the material is shredded and pelletized.

The plastic from the candy wrappers is used to create doggy bags for local animal shelters. Any paper or aluminum wrappers are recycled using traditional methods.

The recycling box is located in the lobby of  Village Hall and candy wrappers can be dropped off during regular business hours.
