Harvest Fest - September 9Harvest Fest is only two weeks away with lots of fun events planned throughout the day! Start your day at the Farmers Market with more than 30 vendors, the popular touch-a-truck and RC Juggles with free balloon creations and giant bubbles. Then, come back to Park Avenue in the evening for live music, the bags tournament and tasty bites from your favorite food vendors. - Gates open at 4:30 p.m.
- Parking is available at the Downtown Deerfield Metra lots and Lindemann lot.
- Grab a buddy and sign up now for the Deerfield Harvest Fest Bags Tournament! Sponsored by Parkway Bank, this free tournament has remained a highlight of Harvest Fest for seven years. (Participants must be at least 16 years of age or older.)
- Live music by West End 40 5:00 - 6:00 p.m., 7th Heaven 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.
- Food and refreshments available for purchase. Food vendors include: Caldwell's Grille - Embassy Suites, Rosebud, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Serna's Grill, Mario's Cart, Da Pizza Dude, Donut Jester and La Humita.
- Beer, wine and water will be available for purchase (must be 21 or older to purchase alcohol).

Old Time String Band Open Jam at Historic Village
An old time string band open jam will be held Sunday, September 10, from 2 to 4 p.m, at the Deerfield Historic Village, located at the intersection of Deerfield and Kipling Roads. Join local band Tubway, Subway, and the Terrible Goat as they host an old time string band jam open to all levels of playing ability. Admission is free. For more information, contact deerfieldhistory@gmail.com. The Deerfield Historic Village is open for tours on Sundays, from 2 to 4 p.m., June through September. The Deerfield Area Historical Society, a donor-supported, nonprofit organization, maintains the Historic Village.

Join a Village Commission
The Volunteer Engagement Commission is taking applications for open positions on the Family Days and Volunteer Engagement Commissions. The Family Days Commission organizes the annual July 3 and 4 festivities. The Volunteer Engagement Commission reviews and recommends candidates for appointment to various Village boards and commissions. Interested parties should apply via the Village website by September 5. Interviews will be held at the next Volunteer Engagement Commission meeting scheduled for September 19.

Organizers say they are most in need of the following items: jelly/jam, canned chicken, pasta, pasta sauce, snacks, nuts, crackers, cereal, rice, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, shampoo, laundry detergent and dish soap.
