Farmers Market Opens

The Farmers Market starts this Saturday in its new permanent location along Park Avenue. The Farmers Market Committee has a season full of special events, kids’ activities and music planned in addition to more than 35 vendors.

RCJuggles Entertainment will be on hand with balloons, bubbles and juggling for the kids. Go Green Deerfield will also have fun activities for young ones. Stop by and enjoy the musical stylings of Laura Doherty. We are looking forward to a great season filled with food, friends and fun!

Read, Set, Run! Register for the 2023 Rotary Race

Are you a runner? Come out on Tuesday, July 4, to the annual Deerfield Rotary Club 5K Run & Walk. Check in starts at 7:15 a.m. and the race begins at 8:00 a.m. Registration available online. The race fee is $35 in advance and $40 on the day of the event. The first 200 registered participants are guaranteed a race shirt.

Waukegan Road Water Main Replacement

This week, the contractor continued to transfer water services over to the new main north of Orchard Street during the day and in the downtown area at night. With Deerfield High School on summer break, the contractor installed the traffic control from Greenwood Avenue to North Avenue early this week and began prep work. It is anticipated that all water main items will be completed in the south section by next Tuesday.

Next week, the contractor will complete the final water main connections at Elder Lane on Monday and Hazel Avenue on Tuesday. Both connections will require daytime closures of the intersections. Over the next two weeks, the contractor will work to complete all restoration items south of Greenwood Avenue, including the downtown area. Water main work north of Greenwood Avenue will being early next week and is anticipated to be completed by mid-September.
