Applications Open for 50/50 Parkway Tree Program

The Village will pay half the cost to plant a tree in your parkway and guarantee it for one year.  Your tree will be balled in burlap, guaranteed for one year, and planted by the Public Works Department. Trees will be planted in the fall. Watch your tree next summer and, if you notice any problems, call us so we can have the tree examined before the guarantee expires. This program is for residential properties only. Click here to apply now before the August 31 deadline.

Stormwater Master Plan Now Open for Public Comment

In early 2020, the Village initiated a contract with an area consultant to developed a Village-wide Stormwater Master Plan. This plan is designed to analyze and model the Village’s storm sewer system to determine deficient areas and provide improvement recommendations.  In all, there were 42 flood study areas that were identified where detailed drainage analyses was performed.

This plan has been submitted and reviewed by Village staff and is in its final draft form. As public input and resident interaction was a large part of the historical data collection, the Village is making the final draft available to residents for a 30 day public commenting period. During this time, residents are encouraged to review this report and provide any comments or questions to Village staff. Click here for the full report.

Public comments and questions can be emailed to the Engineering Department at engineering@deerfield.il.us. Comments will be accepted until July 26.

Permit

Door-to-Door Solicitation Update

Now that Illinois is in Phase 5 of the Restore Illinois program, the Village is again issuing door-to-door commercial solicitation permits. All commercial solicitors are required to get a Village permit prior to going door-to-door. Along with the permit, they are required to carry a Village-issued badge that includes a photo, their name, their company and the expiration date of the license. Before engaging with any door-to-door sales person, ask to see their badge. The badge proves that the solicitor has paid their fee, has been informed of the Village’s door-to-door solicitation regulations and has passed a background check by the Police Department. The permit is good for two weeks. If you encounter a commercial solicitor without a badge, please call the Police Department non-emergency number at 847.945.8636.

Commercial solicitors are prohibited from entering any private property that has posted a “No Solicitors” sign. You can download a printable sign here. Although the Village issues door-to-door solicitation permits, it does not endorse any service or product.

Please note that these regulations apply only to commercial solicitors. Non-commercial solicitors, such as people asking for support for a charitable, political, religious or not-for-profit organization, are not required to register with the Village.
