Village Snow Response
Public Works responded to the latest winter storm on Monday at 2:30 p.m. with the main salting trucks clearing the Village’s collector routes and Waukegan and Deerfield Roads. At 9 p.m., the remainder of staff was called in to start plowing all 19 individual plow routes. The team worked through the night and finished all streets and parking lots by 11 a.m. Tuesday. Upon completion of plowing, the team used rock salt to control ice on all main routes. Staff began sidewalk clearing on Wednesday morning at 1a.m., and it will take approximately 30 working hours to get through all routes. In all, staff used 136 tons of rock salt and 7,200 gallons of liquid salt brine to combat the storm.
The Village received a delivery of rock salt today and is prepared for the snow forecast for Sunday.
