A Message from Mayor Rosenthal
Dear Deerfield,
We’re going into the Labor Day weekend on the tails of sobering news – Lake County’s COVID-19 risk level was changed today from blue to orange following increases in positive cases and deaths.
Labor Day weekend is normally full of backyard barbecues, family potlucks, and gathering with friends to enjoy the last few days of summer. But the true meaning of Labor Day is celebrating the American worker. This weekend, let’s honor our medical workers, our cashiers, our essential workers, and all those who keep the world working during the pandemic by being smart. There is no better or more patriotic way to celebrate our front-line workers right now than staying healthy, wearing a face mask, and maintaining social distance.
It has come to my attention that some college students have returned home from campus after testing positive for COVID-19. Some are quarantining at home and others in local hotels. I ask students and families to follow all of the guidance of public health officials and quarantine responsibly to prevent community spread.
I wish you all a safe, smart, healthy Labor Day. #DoItForDeerfield
Best,
Harriet
