A Message from Mayor Rosenthal
Dear Deerfield,
Well, we did it. We made it through another week of masks, social distancing, and remote learning in what is the most difficult and strangest year we have faced in our lifetime. No matter how your family has been impacted by Covid-19, it’s important to take a step back and reflect on our accomplishments, big and small, even if it’s just getting through another hectic week.
We have all been thinking about students, parents, and teachers as the school year started remotely. Last week, the Village launched the Rapid Response Network to serve as a clearinghouse of resources for families with young children. You can find it here. Since then, residents have reached out to share ways they are offering support to others, and in each example it boils down to neighbors helping neighbors. For those in the community without children, reach out to your friends and neighbors with children to offer what help you are able to give. If nothing else, should you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours.
This weekend, let’s take a moment to reflect and ask ourselves what kind of help we need and what kind of help we are able to provide others. Let’s make next week better than the past week. This is our first pandemic, we are in it together and working together will get us through it.
Stay safe,
Harriet
