A Message from Mayor Rosenthal
Dear Deerfield,
The end of the summer is a popular time to take a vacation. And while we all could use a little rest and relaxation right now, we need to be smart. If you travel, whether for leisure, to visit family, or to move a child to college, take the necessary precautions so you and your family stay healthy and do not bring cases of COVID-19 to our community.
Both the Lake County and Cook County Health Departments have issued guidance asking anyone who travels from a state with a high incidence of COVID-19 cases to self-quarantine for 14 days and monitor for symptoms of the virus. This includes travel to the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nevada, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Ohio, and Oklahoma. Cook County also includes Iowa. That list is expected to grow as cases continue to rise.
Before planning a trip, please research your destination to find out if they are experiencing a spike in cases, and what rules are in place both there and back at home. Ask yourself if a trip is worth the risk. Remember, wherever you go, you will come home to your friends and neighbors. Be smart, take proper precautions, and show concern for others by wearing a mask.
More than 125 Deerfield residents have tested positive for COVID-19. It’s up to all of us to keep that number from rising. #DoItForDeerfield!
Stay safe,
Harriet
