New Village Supplemental Order Clarifies Re-opening Guidelines
On May 29, 2020, Governor JB Pritzker issued new guidelines to re-open businesses and move Illinois into Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan. Today, May 30, 2020, Mayor Harriet Rosenthal issued a new supplemental order to provide clarity to residents in areas where previous orders now conflict with the re-opening guidelines. You can find it here.
These changes will allow residents and businesses to follow the Phase 3 guidelines that are available here to review. The Village’s new supplemental order also continues to require face coverings when working in or patronizing a retail business open to the public. This includes grocery stores, pharmacies, hardware and supply stores, financial institutions, laundry services, clothing stores, merchandise stores, when picking up food and beverage establishments, taking public transportation or a taxi/ride share, working in or visiting an indoor construction site, or performing professional landscape services.
Face coverings also remain required in indoor and outdoor common areas of multi-unit commercial and residential buildings where keeping six feet of space distance is not possible, except when with members of the same household.
Face coverings are not required when a person is engaged in outdoor activity and permissible outdoor physical activity (such as walking, hiking, running, or biking), provided that the person practices social distancing of at least six feet from persons who are not members of the same household or residence. They are also not required when riding in a personal vehicle, when a person is alone or with others in a private space that is not open to the general public, and for those for whom wearing a face covering is not medically advisable.
