The Deerfield Bannockburn Riverwoods (DBR) Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Deerfield Lions Club, GiGi’s Playhouse and the Village of Deerfield are pleased to announce a new Sensory Friendly Area for individuals with special needs at Deerfield Family Days on Monday, July 4, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at Jewett Park in Deerfield.
The Sensory Friendly Area is a separate, quieter area with soft seating, games and activities specially designed for those with sensory challenges and other special considerations. All ages are welcome, but a parent or caregiver must accompany and remain with children.
The Sensory Friendly Area is located at the north end of Jewett Park, near Hazel Avenue and will be open from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 4, 2022. Please keep in mind the Deerfield Parade route will go by this area from 12:30 – 1:00 p.m..
The Sensory Friendly Area is designed to allow those with special needs to attend Deerfield Family Days with family and friends in a less overwhelming environment. Please understand this area is not open to everyone but designed for those who need it.
We thank the Deerfield Lions Club for their generosity in assisting us in bringing the Sensory Friendly Area to our communities. Special needs experienced volunteers are needed, please contact the DBR Chamber of Commerce at 847-945-4660 or email julie@dbrchamber.com.
