Village Hall Closing Daily from Noon to 1 p.m.

Starting tomorrow, Village Hall will be closed from noon to 1 p.m. daily to further limit the amount of staff present in the building at any single time due to COVID-19.

Following a positive COVID-19 test of an employee, the Finance and Administration front desk closed today and will re-open at a later date, using guidance from the Lake County Health Department. The staff member is now in isolation. The Village is closely working with the Lake County Health Department. It has been determined that no members of the public were in close contact with the individual.

Federal privacy laws prevent the Village from sharing the name of the staff member or providing any information that would otherwise lead to the identification of this staff member.

The health department will never disclose identifying information to close contacts. Beware of scams. Contact tracers will never ask for a social security number, money, bank or credit card information, or any form of payment. They will not ask for immigration status or threaten consequences for not participating or answering questions.

Residents are encouraged to conduct Village business through the Village website or the drop box near the mailbox just south of Village Hall.

Given the spread of COVID-19 in Lake County, we should not be surprised when presumed positive or positive test results are identified within our community. It may continue to occur, and this is a major reason why mitigation strategies such as maintaining social distance, masking, and hand washing are all still very important.

The Lake County Health Department advises the following:

Remember that wherever you go, you should always follow public health guidelines - the 3
Ws - to reduce your risk of getting and spreading COVID-19:

  • WEAR A MASK.
  • WASH YOUR HANDS
  • WATCH YOUR DISTANCE

Also, stay home if you are sick, except to receive medical care, and avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Get the flu vaccine
  • If you are an older adult or have a serious medical condition like heart disease, diabetes, lung disease or have a weakened immune system, contact your doctor immediately if you have COVID-19 symptoms
  • If you experience symptoms, please stay home and consult with your medical provider and get tested. If you do not have a doctor or primary care provider, you may contact the Lake County Health Department at (847) 377-8800. Testing can currently be done free of charge at 102 W. Water St. in Waukegan, IL between 8 am-4 pm. Testing is also available at other locations https://dph.illinois.gov/testing
  • Do not walk into a healthcare facility, urgent care clinic, or hospital before calling. Discuss your symptoms with your doctor. If your doctor believes that you need to be tested for COVID-19, they should refer you to a COVID-19 testing site

If you have any COVID-19 questions, call the Illinois COVID-19 hotline at (800) 889-3931 or email dph.sick@illinois.gov. You may also want to consider signing up for updates from the Lake County Health Department at http://bit.ly/lccovid-19.
