The Energy Impact Illinois (EI2) program will connect you with a trusted energy advocate to help you identify how your home uses energy - and wastes it - and identify the most cost-effective improvements you can make for a more efficient and comfortable home.
More than 4,000 homes in Illinois have participated in EI2 home energy audits, saving an average of $400 annually on utility bills.
EI2 will explain the process and connect you with qualified contractor who will provide a comprehensive energy assessment of your home for just $99. Right now, FREE energy assessments are available to homeowners who host a "house party" with 5 or more neighbors at the event. EI2 will connect homeowners with rebates and loans, if available, that can reduce the cost of the energy efficiency improvements.
If your home becomes 15 percent more efficient, you will also qualify for the Illinois Home Performance with ENERGY STAR certificate. Research suggests that homes with these certificates sell faster and at higher prices.
