A Message from Mayor Shapiro

Earlier today, our friends and neighbors in Highland Park experienced an unimaginable and senseless shooting. As a community, we extend our heartfelt support to all those impacted.

Members of our Police Department are assisting Highland Park in the ongoing and active investigation. Working with other agencies, we will continue to provide resources and assistance to our neighbor.

Social workers and counselor resources are available to our community. This tragedy hit close to home and we all feel its effect. If you or anyone you know needs counseling assistance, crisis counselors are available at the Crisis Text Line 24/7 by texting HOME to 741741. Families may also find this resource from the National Association of School Psychologists helpful in talking about violence with your children. 

It is important that all of us remain alert for ourselves, our families and our community. Rest assured, the safety of this Village is always my first concern. Now is the time to remind your family how much you love them.
