Greenwood Update - June 4

Posted on June 4, 2019 at 11:55 AM by Tyler Dickinson

Work on the 2019 Greenwood Ave Infrastructure Project is set to begin within the next two weeks. This week, road construction signage will be installed as required by the Illinois Department of Transportation along Greenwood Avenue as well as adjacent side streets.

The scope of this project is divided into two sections with Chestnut St. being the divider. On the east side, from Chestnut St. to Waukegan Rd., the project will include installation of new water main and water services, full curb and gutter installation, sidewalk improvements, minor traffic signal upgrades at Waukegan Rd., and a complete replacement of the existing roadway. Between Wilmot Rd. and Chestnut St., the project will include resurfacing of Greenwood Ave., storm sewer improvements, removal and replacement of curb where needed, sidewalk improvements, and parkway restoration.

Greenwood Initial Notice

Due to the magnitude of the work required between Chestnut St. and Waukegan Rd., this section of Greenwood will be closed to through traffic during construction. Therefore, this project will result in a full closure of Greenwood Ave between Park Ave and Waukegan Rd from June 17th through August 16th. Residents that live within the closure will have access to their driveways during construction but may be delayed at times. A detour route utilizing Hazel Ave will be installed prior to the full closure.

Additional construction notices will be provided as the project progresses.  If you are planning a special event, such as a wedding or large party, or have special needs, please contact the Village and they will do their best to accommodate you.

The Village appreciates your effort in helping to complete this improvement. If you have any questions or require special assistance during construction, please contact the Village of Deerfield Engineering Department at 847-317-2490 and request to speak with someone regarding the Greenwood Avenue Construction Project.
