Pavement Removal Begins Wednesday on Elmwood Ave

Posted on October 5, 2018 at 3:33 PM by John Guccione

Pavement removal/grinding will begin on Wednesday October 3rd on Elmwood Ave (beginning around 12pm). During this operation, the contractor will remove the top 3” – 4” of pavement in order to expose the concrete sub-base. Once the surface layer is removed, Village staff will inspect the concrete subbase to identify any required subbase surface patching that would be required prior to replacing the surface course in the next 10 days.

Pavement removal operations include heavy truck traffic and will present delays in accessing residential driveways, as the contractor works to remove/grind half of the roadway at a time.

Once the roadway’s surface course is removed, residents will have access to their driveway, but should drive slowly when accessing driveways due to the difference in subbase pavement to curb elevation.

Though most driveways will be accessible during pavement removal/grinding operations, we ask that residents try to avoid traveling through the work zone or minimize trips in and out during daytime operations.

Additional notification will be provided prior to paving operations which will take place in the next 10 days.
