Woodvale Ave Update - 6/1/2020

Posted on June 1, 2020 at 11:05 AM by John Guccione

Last week, the 18" wide depressed (rumble) curb was installed along the north side of the roadway, along with the installation of concrete driveways (which were re-opened to residents this morning). Pavement removal and sub-base preparation was also completed last week on Woodridge Court.

This week the contractor will continue sub-base preparation on the north side of Woodvale Ave. This is in preparation for paving which is tentatively planned for Friday.

Next week the contractor will pave any remaining "asphalt base course" areas along the north side of Woodvale Ave and on Woodridge Court. Grading and parkway restoration along the north side embankment will take place next week following paving.

Impacts to residential driveways will be minimal during this phase of concrete placement. Residents who will experience access impacts have been notified.

This phase of construction will result in heavy truck traffic as material is moved in and out of the site.  The northbound detour will remain in place. However, delays may be experienced within the project limits during daytime operations.  In most cases, the contractor is able to allow passage in short order.  We appreciate your continued patience and understand as we work to complete this project.

TRASH: During the roadway reconstruction phase, please continue to move trash out close to the curb as you normally would. The contractor will be in early on Tuesday mornings to move the trash from the parkway to the street, thereby allowing the trash collection trucks to empty them.

The Village’s infrastructure construction projects fit under an exemption per the Governor’s Stay at Home order. Outdoor activities, like construction projects, generally will provide for good social distancing that poses little risk of transmission, but it is still important to ensure the ability to wash or sanitize hands and take other precautions. Village and contractor personnel will continue to practice safe social distancing and sanitation efforts during the construction.

If you have any questions or require special assistance during construction, please contact the Village of Deerfield Engineering Department at 847-317-2490 and request to speak to with someone regarding the Woodvale Avenue Project.
