Woodvale Ave Update - 5/11/2020

Posted on May 11, 2020 at 12:55 PM by John Guccione

Last Friday the contractor completed paving the south side of the new roadway. This new pavement will serve as the base layer for the new roadway.  Woodvale Avenue traffic has been shifted onto the newly paved side of the road and the new work zone will be on the creek side of the road.

This week the contractor will begin replacements of the concrete curb and gutter on the remaining half of Woodridge Court. Similar to the first half, this work will impact driveway access for half of the cul-de-sac but this time, these impacts will be for odd numbered houses.

As aforementioned, this week the contractor will begin the roadway reconstruction on the other side of the road. Similar to the first side, this phase will include the removal of the existing road, the installation of new curbs and sidewalks, and the paving.

This phase of construction will result in heavy truck traffic as material is moved in and out of the site.  Residents who will experience access impacts have been notified.

TRASH: During the roadway reconstruction phase, please continue to move trash out close to the curb as you normally would. The contractor will be in early on Tuesday mornings to move the trash from the parkway to the street, thereby allowing the trash collection trucks to empty them.

The Village’s infrastructure construction projects fit under an exemption per the Governor’s Stay at Home order. Outdoor activities, like construction projects, generally will provide for good social distancing that poses little risk of transmission, but it is still important to ensure the ability to wash or sanitize hands and take other precautions. Village and contractor personnel will continue to practice safe social distancing and sanitation efforts during the construction.

If you have any questions or require special assistance during construction, please contact the Village of Deerfield Engineering Department at 847-317-2490 and request to speak to with someone regarding the Woodvale Avenue Project.
