Last week, the contractor continued the installation of the new storm sewer from North Avenue to the south limits. The contractor also completed the water main service connections for the new section at the north end of Woodvale Avenue.
ANTICIPATED WORK THIS WEEK
This week, the contractor will complete the remaining storm sewer and available water main work on the project which will allow them to begin the next phase of the project.
Starting later this week, the contractor will begin the roadway reconstruction phase. This phase will include the removal of the existing road, the installation of new curbs and sidewalks, and the paving of the new road. As discussed at the public meeting, the contractor will reconstruct half of the roadway at a time. A one way detour will be installed towards North Avenue with the posted detour using Wincanton Dr., Warwick Rd., and Kenton Rd. See the below map for more information regarding the detour.
Weather depending, this detour is anticipated to be installed Wednesday, with the start of the roadway removal starting soon thereafter. The contractor will block off the south/west side of Woodvale and start rebuilding that half of the road first. During these removals, access to driveways will be maintained by using stone ramps. However, during the concrete replacements of the curb and sidewalks, driveway access will be blocked until the concrete is strong enough to handle vehicles. Notices with additional information will be hand delivered prior to these driveway impacts.
The Village’s infrastructure construction projects fit under an exemption per the Governor’s Stay at Home order. Outdoor activities, like construction projects, generally will provide for good social distancing that poses little risk of transmission, but it is still important to ensure the ability to wash or sanitize hands and take other precautions. Village and contractor personnel will continue to practice safe social distancing and sanitation efforts during the construction.
If you have any questions or require special assistance during construction, please contact the Village of Deerfield Engineering Department at 847-317-2490 and request to speak to with someone regarding the Woodvale Avenue Project.
