July 29, 2019

Work Completed Last Week:
The contractor completed the installation of new water services on Greenwood Avenue and proposed storm sewer improvements near the railroad tracks. The Greenwood Court water main was also connected to the new water main on Greenwood Ave last week. The existing water mains on Greenwood Avenue are now considered abandoned as all services have been removed and connected to the new main.

Anticipated Schedule for This Week:
The contractor plans to install the new valve vaults in the intersection of Greenwood Avenue and Chestnut Street. The existing fire hydrants and valves will be removed on Greenwood Avenue from Waukegan Road to the Railroad. Surplus material and equipment will be mobilized off-site. In preparation for the new roadway, the contractor also plans to commence pavement, curb and gutter, and driveway pavement removal on Greenwood Avenue from Waukegan Road to the Railroad. This removal work will require the use of temporary aggregate ramps will be installed for accessibility at the project limits and driveways.

Percentage Complete: 29%

Neighborhood Impacts:
Residents who live within the full roadway closure will need to be aware of the contractor’s location as that may dictate the best way to get out of the closure. At times, vehicles will not be able to pass the contractor’s work operations which may result in delays to local traffic. Caution should be practiced through the construction work zone and residents must be alert for workers and construction equipment.
