The Citizen’s Police Academy is an eight week program designed to enhance communication between the police department and the community. Participants are instructed in a variety of law enforcement topics by officers who specialize in those areas. In addition, participants have the option of riding with an officer on patrol and participating in hands on activities.
Classes are held Thursday evenings from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at the Police Department. The eight week session will be offered this spring. Classes will start April 12th and run through May 31st. The session is limited to 16 participants to facilitate discussion.
The Academy is FREE to attend!
Who Can Attend
The Citizen’s Police Academy is open to anyone who:
Is 18 years of age or older
Lives or works in Deerfield
A background check is completed on all applicants. The Deerfield Police Department reserves the right to deny enrollment to applicants with a criminal history.
